Meet Gypsy
Gypsy is a ~6 month old female calf who was rescued from a livestock auction at Hernando County Animal Services on April 30th 2023. She was found as a stray after escaping from her original home, and the owners never stepped up to claim her in fear of getting fined. She lived at the county shelter for over a month being her auction date was scheduled. Florida law mandates that county shelters are NOT allowed to “adopt out” or place rescue holds on livestock other than chickens and domesticated pot belly pigs, and that ALL other livestock MUST be AUCTIONED off!!!! Luckily for this sweet baby calf, our rescue community was able to come together to bring this precious girl to safety! She was transported here to our sanctuary, where she will live out the remainder of her life in peace, and surrounded by love!
Sponsor GYPSY to help underwrite the cost of her daily feed, hay, supplements, medication and continuing veterinary care.
